Ingredient Notes

Here are all the ingredients you'll need to make this simple fruit salad:

ingredients to make fruit salad.
  • Strawberries
  • Kiwi
  • Clementines or mandarin oranges
  • Bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Grapes—green grapes or red grapes are delicious.
  • Orange juice—I just use store-bought juice. Fresh orange juice would be even better.
  • Lemon zest—If you have a lemon on-hand, zest adds a nice flavor. But just the orange juice as a dressing is delicious.
  • Honey—omit to keep this recipe vegan, or use agave or maple syrup.

Make Ahead & Storage

The acid from the orange juice will help preserve the fruits for a few days in the fridge. Cover the fruit salad and refrigerate for 1-2 days. Stir before enjoying again.

Expert Tips

Here are some of my tips and tricks for delicious fruit salad:

  • Use whatever fruits you like or have available. This recipe is super customizable.
  • Instead of orange juice, use any other fruit juice as a dressing.
  • Top with whipped cream and a cherry for some fun!
  • If you want to make these look extra fancy, layer them in a mason jar or short glass with whipped cream or greek yogurt for little fruit parfaits.
  • Serve for breakfast, brunch, snack, or dessert.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep fruit salad from going soggy?

The acidity from the orange juice dressing helps to preserve the fruit a little longer. It is also important to keep the fruit salad cold and refrigerated to avoid premature wilting. If anything, the bananas may turn a little less yellow so if that bothers you, remove the bananas. Everything else in this recipe is pretty hardy.

What fruits taste best together?

Now that's a personal question, but I think you will love the combination of fruits in this recipe. Remove any you don't like and add any more that you enjoy.
