You might be wondering, what can you substitute for champagne in a mimosa? Your first thought may be a non-alcoholic sparkling wine—which would taste great—but this recipe uses readily available ingredients to replicate the flavor.
Of course there's orange juice, but the secret ingredient is a combination of ginger ale and orange sparkling water to mimic the flavor of champagne or prosecco. It tastes shockingly similar!

Ingredient Notes
Here are all the ingredients you'll need to make a non-alcoholic mimosa. Ensure they are all chilled before assembling the mocktail.
- Orange juice—I like to use store bought pulp-free orange juice. If you like pulp you can absolutely use it. You can also squeeze fresh orange juice or use a reduced sugar orange juice.
- Ginger ale—regular or diet will work. Use ginger ale and not ginger beer, as it has a much stronger flavor.
- Orange sparkling water—the key is that it's orange flavored. Plain sparkling water will make the mocktail just taste like diluted orange juice. Use Bubly, Perrier, Montellier, or your favorite brand of sparkling water.
- Garnish—orange slice
Substitutions
Here are some ways to change up this mocktail:
- Use a different juice—you could make this mimosa with cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, grapefruit juice, apple juice, etc.
- Change the sparkling water flavor—try lemon sparkling water, or lime sparkling water, or another flavor to compliment the juice you use.
- I do not recommend substituting the ginger ale as this is what provides a lot of the mock champagne flavor.
