This prosciutto wrapped asparagus is the perfect side for your next summer bbq. Quick to prepare with simple ingredients, this salty and zesty dish is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
You will love how simple this recipe is. It is sure to satisfy the pickiest of eaters, all while being gluten-free and allergy-friendly.

Ingredients you need
Asparagus: This is the star of the show! Be sure to pick up a good bunch of local asparagus if you can find it. The thicker the stalks, the better. Note that this may make your cook time a minute or two longer. Be sure to wash thoroughly and trim off the woody ends - about 1 inch!
Prosciutto: The co-star of the show! I love prosciutto on just about anything, but baked in the oven it caramelizes and creates the perfectly crunchy coat for the fresh asparagus.
Olive oil: To ensure a crisp prosciutto with a soft asparagus.
Parmesan cheese: Parm + prosciutto = perfection. The parmesan adds a second layer of saltiness and hugs the asparagus for the perfect bite.
Lemon juice: Asparagus and lemons were made to go together. The lemon adds a hit of freshness and lightens the entire dish.
Salt & pepper: Classic seasonings to emphasize the amazing salty and savoury flavours that are already here.

How to make prosciutto wrapped asparagus
This recipe is perfect for a bbq or dinner party where you're short on time. With simple prep that can be done ahead and a 10-minute cook time, you'll be ready to eat and enjoy in no time.
Start by preheating your oven to 400° F. Then, the first step is to thoroughly wash and dry your asparagus. You'll want to trim off about an inch of the ends. This removes the woody stalk that you don't want to eat.
Next, cut your prosciutto slices in half lengthwise. This will not only allow for a nice tight wrap on the asparagus, but it will double your prosciutto slices - a nice bang for your buck!
Place the wrapped asparagus stalks on a parchment lined baking sheet. Then drizzle with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and lemon juice. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Bake in the oven for 10-11 minutes, or a few more if you have really thick stalks. Garnish with some more parmesan and lemon slices, and you're ready to serve!

And that's it, you're ready for dinner! This simple side is one of my absolute favourites. I love the salty, crispy coating to the luscious and fresh asparagus.
