This candy cane nice cream is the perfect healthy holiday treat! With a base of frozen bananas, chocolate, and peppermint flavours, this 5 minute dessert is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. It has a super creamy texture and the flavours of nostalgic childhood ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen banana chunks about 4 bananas
  • 3 tablespoon milk of choice
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • ½ cup shaved chocolate or chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoon crushed candy canes

Instructions

  • Place the frozen bananas, milk, maple syrup, and extracts in the bucket of your blender.
  • Blend on high power or ice cream mode if your blender has one, using the tamper if necessary, until smooth.
  • Add the chocolate and candy canes to the blender and blend just until combined.
  • Scoop and enjoy immediately, or place in a freezer safe container and freeze for later. Allow frozen nice cream to thaw for 15 minutes before eating. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Vegan & dairy-free: Simply use a non-dairy milk such as soy or cashew.
  • Maple syrup: You could also use honey as the sweetener.
  • Storage: Nice cream is best enjoyed fresh, but it freezes well in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Thaw for 15 minutes at room temperature before enjoying.
